GEORGIAN 3, FLEMING 0

BARRIE, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team found themselves down early Saturday afternoon to the Fleming Knights but came back strong to earn a 3-1 win at the Georgian College Athletic and Fitness Centre in Barrie.

The Grizzlies came out a bit sluggish to start and dropped the first set of their match against the Knights 25-21.

Not letting the early deficit get them down the Grizzlies rallied back taking a close second set 25-23.

Carrying the momentum forward, Georgian led by Lyndon Sonegeo, who had 21 points on the afternoon including 17 kills, pulled ahead taking the third set 25-21.

The fourth and final set displayed high emotion with back and forth action, but the Grizzlies capitalized on big kills by Sonego and Andy Carriere along with a key late serving ace by Chris Jackson to pull away defeating the Knights 25-21.

The win pulls the Grizzlies to a 4-2 record on the OCAA season, good enough to sit fourth in the east division.

Both the Grizzlies men's and women's volleyball teams will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they host the Trent Excalibur at the Georgian Athletic Centre starting with the women's game at noon followed by the men's game at 2 p.m. It will be the last home games for both the men's and women's teams of the 2012 calendar year.
