DURHAM 3, FLEMING 0

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College men's volleyball team earned their 10th win of the season as they defeated the Fleming Knights by a score of 3-0.

The first set saw both teams trading points keeping the game close; however the Lords were able to go on a late run and finish with a 25-20 win.

In the second set, Fleming was able to maintain an early lead until the game became deadlocked at 16-16, 17-17 and 20-20. Finally, with some timely kills, Durham was able to sneak out a 25-22 set win to take a commanding 2-0 lead.

The third set featured the Lords taking complete control of the match, beginning with 13 unanswered points behind the serving of Brad VanHartingsveldt (Newcastle, Ont.). The Lords would cruise to the 25-9 final set victory.

Individual highlights included VanHartingsveldt who had 18 points including 12 kills and Craig Lush (Port Perry, Ont.) with eight points.

Lords captain Steve Clarey (Baltimore, Ont.) surpassed Adam Schiedel in career points to move into second place all-time on the Durham College scoring charts. Clarey had eight points on the night, giving him 610 in his career.

Clay Couchman led Fleming with nine points of offence.

Durham's next action is on Wednesday night on the road as they head to Toronto to take on the George Brown Huskies (8-2). Game time is at 8 p.m.
