ST. CLAIR 6, SENECA 0

TECUMSEH, Ont. - The St. Clair College men's baseball team took a pair of games Sunday from Seneca College (North York, Ont.) at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh, Ont., to finish the opening weekend in the OCAA schedule with a 4-0 record. The Saints won the opening game 6-0 and then topped Seneca 14-4 in a mercy shortened six innings to finish off the weekend.

First baseman Rob Cooper (Belle River, Ont./St. Anne), left fielder Crannel Jerald (LaSalle, Ont./Sandwich) and catcher Eric Cunningham (LaSalle, Ont./St. Thomas of Villanova) each had two hits apiece for St. Clair in the win. First-year pitcher Anthony Buonaiuto (Toronto/Neil-McNeil) worked four efficient innings allowing just one hit to pick up his first win of the season for the Saints.

Second-year Saints pitcher Connor Soulliere (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) kept Seneca off base with regularity but when Seneca reached first base he was able to pick them off. Before leaving with a mild injury after 4.2 innings he allowed just three hits and a pair of runs. Catcher Eric Cunningham (LaSalle, Ont./St. Thomas of Villanova) was stellar behind the plate defensively again while driving in two runs on two hits to lead the St. Clair offence. The Saints scored four runs in the fifth inning stranding the mercy run on base but were able to score three runs in the sixth inning to close it out.

The Saints continue their OCAA regular season schedule at George Brown (Toronto) on Saturday and at Humber College (Etobicoke, Ont.) Sunday with doubleheaders each day.
