HUMBER 10, FANSHAWE 3

LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe men's baseball team hosted the Humber Hawks on Friday night at historic Labatt Park. Fanshawe won their first game of the season 5-4 in the opening game of the doubleheader. Humber took the second game by a final score of 10-3.

In Game 1 of the twin bill, the Falcons came from behind to win in dramatic fashion. Humber got on the board first and held a short 1-0 lead until Falcons shortstop Carlos Arteaga hit a RBI single to tie the game at one after three innings. The Hawks pulled ahead again in the top of the seventh, taking a 4-2 lead into the final half inning. Down two in its last at bat, Fanshawe loaded the bases with one out. Humber walked in the third run still leaving the bases loaded. The Falcons then got a base hit to left field by Tyson Patrick and team captain Sean Refflinghaus hustled around from second to beat the throw to the plate, giving the Falcons the walk-off victory. Centrefielder Chris McQueen went 2-for-2 on the game, with two walks. The winning pitcher for Fanshawe was Tyler Rymal (1-0).

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Falcons fell 10-3 to the visiting Hawks. McQueen had three stolen bases, giving him four on the day. The loss brings Fanshawe's record to 1-3 on the season.

The Fanshawe Falcons next game will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Labatt Park. They will host the Durham Lords in a doubleheader with game times at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. General admission tickets are $5 per person, with free admission for kids under six and Fanshawe students with valid student ID. Tickets are cash only and will be available at the gates of Labatt Park on Falcons game days, one hour prior to game time.
