ST. CLAIR 10, FANSHAWE 3

LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe men's baseball team (0-2) hosted the defending OCAA champion St. Clair Saints (2-0) on Friday night in the season opener for both teams. St. Clair took the first game by a final score of 8-5 and the second by a 10-3 count.

In the opening game, Fanshawe's first hit of the season belonged to outfielder Robert Doyle, who finished the game 3-for-3. The Falcons had a tremendous third inning, with Carlos Arteaja starting off the scoring with a two-run double. Fanshawe added three more runs before the end of the inning to go up 5-2.

However, St. Clair responded by scoring six unanswered runs in the remaining four innings to win the game 8-5. The winning pitcher was Kyle Breitner (1-0) and the losing pitcher was Tyler Rymal (0-1).

In Game 2 of the doubleheader, the Falcons fell 10-3 to the visiting Saints. Doyle led the Falcons, going 2-for-3 at the plate, with one walk. The winning pitcher was Shane Courtney (1-0) and the losing pitcher was Kyle Zimmer (0-1).

Fanshawe returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Labatt Park when they take on the Humber Hawks (0-0) as part of Fanshawe's Annual Falcons Fest at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

General admission tickets are $5 per person, with free admission for kids under six and Fanshawe students with valid student ID. Tickets are cash only and will be available at the gates of Labatt Park on Falcons game days, one hour prior to game time. Due to construction at Labatt Park, there will be no on-site parking for the duration of the season. Fans are to park on Wilson Avenue or the surrounding side streets.
