WAGENHOFFER HEADLINES OCAA MEN'S BASEBALL AWARDS

WINDSOR, Ont. - George Brown College's Brady Wagenhoffer (Newmarket) is the 2022 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Baseball Player of the Year. Wagenhoffer received the award in a ceremony held in Windsor, Ont., on Wednesday evening.

The second-year catcher was among the league leaders in most offensive categories with 23 hits, six doubles, three home runs, 21 RBI and a slash line of .418/.529/.727. Wagenhoffer also pitched 7 2/3 innings in five appearances, allowing just one earned run for a 0.91 ERA. Wagenhoffer also headlines the OCAA League First-Team All-Stars.

Owen Findlay (LaSalle) of St. Clair College is the OCAA Rookie of the Year. The third baseman recorded 21 hits for the Saints resulting 18 runs scored and 24 RBI, second among all OCAA players. Findlay had a slash line of .389/.507/.519 for the season. Findlay is an OCAA League Second-Team All-Star.

Troy Black of Humber College is the OCAA Coach of the Year, leading the Hawks to the 2022 regular season championship. Humber finished with a mark of 17-1 and a league-high 15-game winning streak to conclude the regular season.

Humber's Brandon Deans (Mississauga) is the OCAA Pitcher of the Year. Deans had an unblemished record of 5-0 in five starts for the Hawks, pitching to an ERA of 1.58. The fourth-year right-hander led the OCAA with 63 strikeouts to set a new single season record. Deans also struck out 16 batters in a game twice, setting then equaling a new OCAA single game record. Deans is an OCAA League First-Team All-Star.

Tyler Chong (Markham) of Durham College is the OCAA Batting Champion. The second-year player batted .519 going 28-for-54 in 16 games. Chong was the only OCAA player with a batting average better than .500. Chong is also an OCAA League First-Team All-Star.

Joining Wagenhoffer, Deans and Chong as OCAA League First-Team All-Stars are Centennial College's Shoya Hase (Japan); Durham's Nick King (Whitby); Humber's David Boatto (Vaughan), Hudson Lockwood (Burlington) and Jaykob Turner (Mississauga); and St. Clair's Josh Anderson (Ajax), Hunter Appleyard (LaSalle) and Evan Ferguson (Windsor).

Along with Findlay, OCAA League Second-Team All-Stars include Centennial's Brandon Smith (Vaughan) and Brandon Turner (Oakland); Durham's Eddie Borutskie (Oshawa); Fanshawe College's Faris Adamou (Mississauga); George Brown's Tyler Romandel (Newmarket); Humber's Justin Groves (Peterborough) and Aidan Murphy (Brampton); St. Clair's Sam McKinlay (Ursuline) and Henry Real (Panama); and Seneca College's AJ Rowe (Whitby).
