KITCHENER, Ont. - Conestoga College is proud to announce its new
women's fastball head coach.
Ron Taylor has recently been named the newest
head coach of the women's fastball program at Conestoga College for
the 2013 season. Ron previously coached women's fastball at
Conestoga College from 1988-1990 and 1993-1995. Ron was able to
lead his team to two OCAA gold medals and one silver medal; in
1994, Ron was nominated as coach of the year. Aside from bringing
championships to Conestoga, Ron has had the opportunity to coach
several boy's baseball teams and bring league and Ontario
championships home. Ron has been heavily involved and passionate
about softball for many decades now. Aside from numerous coaching
positions with both men and women's teams, Ron has also played the
game at a very high level. Ron has participated in three World ISC
tournaments, playing both infield and outfield positions.
Ron is currently involved with instructing a Cambridge women's
midget team where he met the head coach, Brad
McConnell, who will be brought onto Conestoga's coaching
staff as the assistant coach. Ron's experience and passion for the
game will surely show in the next season, as he is very excited to
be back as coach again. Ron's main focus is to teach the
fundamentals of the game first before moving on to technical skills
and different softball strategies. Within the next year, Ron wants
to ensure and reiterate to the girls that playing a varsity college
sport is an honour and should be taken seriously. Commitment, hard
work and dedication is what Ron requests out of his player.
Ron thoroughly looks forward to the upcoming season and can't wait
to lead the Condors to new experiences and opportunities.
