ST. CLAIR 7, DURHAM 0

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College women's fastball team suffered two tough losses in a doubleheader at Durham Field against St. Clair College, falling 7-0 in game one and 12-2 in game two.

In game one, St. Clair scored runs in the first four innings to pull away to a quick lead. The Lords were unable to answer the scoring of St. Clair as they struggled at the plate and were unable to put runners into scoring position. Despite the team's struggles, catcher Laura Arbour (Whitby, Ont.) had a strong performance going 3-for-3 at the plate including a double.

Lords rookie Ashley Black (Waterloo, Ont.) pitched the complete game allowing four earned runs with four walks and four strikeouts.

Amelia Maniuk, Jordan Beauchesne and Kallie Desjarlais each had two hits in the St. Clair win. Alexa Georgiou pitched a complete game shutout allowing only six hits while striking out seven.

Game two saw much of the same for the Lords as St. Clair jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead in the first three innings. The disparity at the plate between the two teams was even larger as St. Clair collected 18 hits while the Lords were only able to produce four. Despite the struggles the Lords did have a late game rally in the fifth inning when Arbour again displayed offensive capabilities along with teammates Black, Brittany Bender (Wellesley, Ont.), and Kayla Gammie (Guelph, Ont.) who all collected hits.

Pitcher Danielle Crosby (Whitby, Ont.) started the game for the Lords while veteran Lydia Kalbfleisch (Moorefield, Ont.) appeared in relief going 3 1/3 innings allowing three earned runs on seven hits.

Every player in the Saints starting line-up registered at least one hit. Allison Telfer picked up the win on the mound allowing one Durham hit over four innings.

The Lords will look to rebound as they travel to Conestoga College in another doubleheader on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
