ST. CLAIR 6, MOHAWK 5

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's fastball team finished their OCAA regular season with a 14-1 record after a 6-5 win over Mohawk College tonight at Mic Mac Park.

Saints starting pitcher Skylar Patteson worked into the seventh inning allowing eight hits and five earned runs before giving way to Alexa Georgiou who closed out the game retiring the last two outs for Mohawk. Patteson helped her cause in the win with a two-run homer in the fourth inning allowing St. Clair a comfortable 6-1 lead.

Mohawk made it interesting with two runs in the fifth and sixth innings to pull within a run. Allie Telfer also homered for the Saints while Rian Desbiens and Sarah Bondy each had two hits in the game.

St. Clair has earned the top seed for the OCAA championships hosted by Humber College in Mississauga, Ont. from Oct. 18-19. The four-team double-knockout format will be played at Wildwood Park with the draw to be determined in the coming days after the final seeding takes place.

The Saints will also spend Thanksgiving Weekend in London as they received an invitation to the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association National Championships hosted by the University of Western Ontario. The eight-team tournament features the University of Calgary (Calgary), Durham College (Oshawa, Ont.), University of Guelph (Guelph, Ont.), University of Western Ontario (London, Ont.), University of Waterloo (Waterloo, Ont.), Humber College (Etobicoke, Ont.), University of Ottawa (Ottawa), and St. Clair College (Windsor, Ont.).

WINDSOR, Ont. - The Mohawk women's fastball team suffered its 15th straight loss, but certainly gave the first place St. Clair Saints a fright in the final game of the OCAA regular season.

The Mountaineers dropped a 6-5 decision to the 14-1 Saints in Windsor Thursday (Oct. 10). Mohawk even had the tying run on base in the top of the seventh inning, but couldn't cash her in.

Skyler-Dawn Patteson was the winning pitcher for St. Clair and helped herself by driving in three runs. She and teammate Allison Telfer each homered off losing pitcher Laura Chappel, who went the distance, but Patteson was replaced with one out in the 7th inning.

It marked the only time this season that the Mountaineers drove an opposing pitcher from the game, according to Mohawk head coach Brian Weller, who said his team played a fantastic game. He said Chappel pitched very well, even in defeat, as St. Clair got all of their runs by the fourth inning and none after that.

Jennifer VanDyk had a pair of RBIs for the Mountaineers. Nicole Leitch and Alexis Collins each had two hits.
