HAMILTON, Ont. - The Fanshawe softball team started their inaugural season off with a bang.

The team travelled to Hamilton to take on the Mohawk Mountaineers and came away with a pair of victories. Fanshawe outplayed Mohawk right from the opening pitch and won with scores of 22-0 and 22-3.

Alana Gilmour (1-0) and Sandra Cowan (1-0) both pitched complete games but lasted only three and four innings respectively because of the OCAA's mercy rule.

They now stand alone in first with an impressive plus-40 run differential.

Next up, the Falcons head to Conestoga on Tuesday, Sept. 9 to take on the Condors. The games take place at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Conestoga finished tied for third last season with a record of 7-8.
