CONESTOGA 4, FANSHAWE 2

LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe women's softball team hosted the Conestoga Condors (7-3) on Tuesday night. The Condors won the game by a final score of 4-2.

In the second inning, Mackenzie Doherty and Kady Hawkins put the Falcons on the board, driving in runs to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.

Fanshawe's pitcher Alanna Gilmour was doing her part too. After giving up a leadoff double, Gimour retired nine straight Conestoga batters.

In the top of the fourth inning, after a leadoff triple by Lauren Ruff, Conestoga's Cassidy Wettlaufer tied the game with an inside-the-park homerun.

In the fifth, Conestoga scored another two runs and took a 4-2 lead. Fanshawe threatened in the bottom of the seventh but were not able to make the comeback.

Conestoga's Ruff pitched a complete game for the win, improving to 6-0 on the season. Fanshawe's Kady Hawkins finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI.

The Fanshawe Falcons next game takes place on the road Saturday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. versus the Durham Lords (5-3).
