ST. CLAIR 9, DURHAM 2

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's softball team advanced to Saturday's gold medal game to play for the OCAA Championship.

St. Clair started the day with a 1-0 victory over Humber College and then dropped Durham College by a score of 9-2.

Alexa Georgiou (Windsor, Ont./Assumption) was the star on the opening day for St. Clair pitching all 14 innings of both match-ups and earned player of the game honours adding a hot stick at the plate. She had the lone RBI in the win over Humber and then nearly hit for the cycle against Durham that included a three-run homer that put the game out of reach.

The Saints will play the winner of Durham and Conestoga who face each other at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.

St. Clair will have two opportunities in the gold medal round to win the championship in the double-knockout format. The first game starts at 1 p.m. and if necessary the final game will be played at 3 p.m.
