DURHAM 13, MOHAWK 2

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Durham Lords won both ends of their OCAA women's softball doubleheader at Mohawk Sports Park, against the Mountaineers.

Mohawk had an early 2-1 lead, but a couple of big innings saw the Lords coast to a 13-2 victory in the opener. A grand slam by Rebecca Ropp in a five-run fifth inning, was followed by a four-run sixth. Winning pitcher Megan McDonald helped her own cause with a bases-loaded triple and she also scored.

Mountaineers' Aimee Leduc was tagged with the defeat.

Game 2 lasted just one inning. Mohawk, which had only nine players to start the game, lost one through injury and had to forfeit the contest under the rules.

Durham pushed their record to 11-5, while Mohawk dropped to 5-15.
