HAMILTON, Ont. - Displaying solid fundamental play, the Mohawk women's softball team stunned perennial powerhouse Durham Lords 8-0 at Mohawk Sports Park on Saturday. It was the first game of an OCAA doubleheader.
The Mountaineers got their bats going and showed excellent defence in their victory. Sarah Bell whacked a three-run homer during a five run second inning which sent Mohawk on their way.
Nikki Grover went all the way to a seven hit shutout and picked up the win. Katrina Gammie was the loser for the Lords.
Durham got a pair of RBI from Ashley Black and the Lords blanked the Mohawk Mountaineers 2-0 in the second game of their OCAA women's softball twin bill at Mohawk Sports Park.
Sam MacCallum twirled a two-hit gem for the Lords, who bounced back from an eight run defeat in the opening game.
Aimee Leduc (Princeton, ES Notre Dame) was charged with the defeat.
