OCAA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

TORONTO - The following student-athletes have been recognized by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) for their accomplishments during the seven-day period ending Sunday, Nov. 10.

Tennyson Brown

Program: Carpentry & Renovation Techniques
Year of Eligibility: 2
Sport: Men's Rugby
Hometown: Alliston, Ont.
Brown was named a Championship All-Star as he scored all three of Georgian's tries in a 22-17 loss to Durham in the OCAA gold medal match on Nov. 10. After falling behind 12-0, Georgian was forced to play catch-up to Durham the remainder match. While Brown's third try pulled the Grizzlies within five points, it wouldn't be enough. The second-year wing had a successful regular season scoring eight tries in six matches and was named an OCAA West Division All-Star for the second time to go along with his second OCAA silver medal. Georgian also dropped the final to Durham last season.

Taylor Dallas
School: Durham
Program: Fire and Life Safety Systems Technician
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Men's Rugby
Hometown: Port Perry, Ont.
Dallas was named Championship MVP of the OCAA gold medal match on Nov. 10 as Durham won their second straight provincial banner in a rematch against Georgian, 22-17. Dallas helped do the Grizzlies in by making several spectacular tackles in the championship final, in addition to guiding the Lords offence from his fly-half position. The fourth-year No. 10's veteran presence is a key part of Durham's success the past two seasons in its return to OCAA play. The Lords are 14-3 overall in their two seasons, becoming the first program to repeat provincially since 2014.

Joshua Lee
School: Durham
Program: Entrepreneurship & Small Business
Year of Eligibility: 1
Sport: Men's Soccer
Hometown: Ajax, Ont.
Lee was named MVP of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association championship as host Durham won its first-ever national title. Lee opened the scoring in a 3-2 victory over VIU in the gold medal match. The first-year striker earlier scored an insurance goal in a 2-0 semifinal victory over Red Deer, after ringing one off the post earlier in the match. The OCAA East Division Rookie of the Year and OCAA First-Team All-Star helped celebrate Durham's first national medal since hosting the event in 1999, taking bronze that year. OCAA programs have won seven of the last eight national titles.

Kylie Moyer

The third-year player scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while grabbing a dozen rebounds. She also contributed a couple of steals and an assist. The win lifted St. Lawrence above .500 for the first time this season at 3-2 following a pair of victories. Moyer is averaging 15.8 points and 13.4 rebounds per game through five games. She was named OCAA East Division Defensive Player of the Year and an OCAA First-Team All-Star last season.

Abby Sluys
School: Redeemer

After a tough schedule to begin the regular season, Redeemer found its rhythm on Nov. 6 against Sheridan. Sluys ended the night with an incredible 24 points in just three sets. She recorded 20 kills, one ace and three blocks. Sluys posted an astounding 8.00 points per set in the match and had just five hitting errors on 43 attempts. Redeemer was victorious for the first time, and looks to build on its success with a trip to Cambrian and Boreal this weekend.
