With varsity sports and recreation activities currently on hiatus due to the global pandemic, the OCAA will shine a spotlight on memorable games from the previous 2019-20 season.

Our feature Game of the Week is an #OCAAMBB First Round sudden death playoff between the Fanshawe Falcons and Seneca Sting which took place Feb. 29, 2020.

With the regular season in the rear view mirror, it was winner-take-all time as the Falcons and Sting battled for an invite to the OCAA championship. Fanshawe was coming off a win in its regular season finale, but not before losing eight straight games to begin the 2020 portion of its campaign. Still at 10-10 and coming out of an always competitive West Division, the Falcons were not a team to be taken lightly.

Seneca on the other hand was tied for the best regular season record in all of OCAA, although losing the East Division championship tiebreaker to eventual OCAA champion George Brown. At 17-3 and with a home record of 9-1, the Sting had every right to be confident heading into this must-win match-up.

The game featured two major award winners. OCAA Rookie of the Year Marko Maletic scored 20 points for Fanshawe while grabbing seven rebounds. He was a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe while contributing three 3-pointers. CCAA All-Canadian Dakoda Lewis also contributed a trio of three-pointers, scoring 23 points for Seneca while grabbing four rebounds. He also tallied four assists and two steals.
