CCAA TO HONOUR HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES FROM OCAA

The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is set to honour new inductees into its Hall of Fame.

The 2023 CCAA Hall of Fame Banquet will take place on Tuesday, June 13 in Niagara Falls, Ont., and will be hosted in conjunction with the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA).

Several athletes and coaches from the OCAA will be inducted.

"It's incredible to see how the CCAA's Hall of Fame has continued to expand over the past few years," said Vince Amato, CCAA President. "The quality of the inductees speaks to the accomplishments of our members and conferences."

The CCAA Hall of Fame Class of 2023 will consist of the following individuals:

  • Jerry Serviss, Coach (St. Clair College)
  • Earl Begg, Coach (Mohawk College)
  • Germain Sanchez, Coach (Humber College)
  • Ray Chateau, Coach (Humber College)
  • Mark Nelson, Athlete (Niagara College)
  • Tom Peat, Athlete (Niagara College)
  • Brad Kerfoot, Athlete (Humber College)
  • Joanna Vitale, Athlete (Humber College)
  • Andrew DaSilva, Athlete (Humber College)
  • Jason Hernandez, Athlete (St. Clair & Seneca College)
  • Darl Sutherland, Athlete (Fleming College)
  • The inductees will be featured on the CCAA website throughout the month of May.

"Congratulations to the induction class of 2023," said Amato. "Your dedication and excellence in your sport has helped make the CCAA what it is today."

In 2014, Builders Alex Hoffman, John Cruickshank and Jack Costello were among the inaugural CCAA Hall of Fame inductees from the OCAA. The following year, Ivan "Chuck" Gullickson (Builder) was also inducted.

Several members from the OCAA were honoured in 2016, including: Athletes Vito Frijia, Marcy Skribe, Avery Brevett and Adam Morandini, Coaches Paul Reader, Frank & Rozika Sulatycki and Mike Katz along with Builders Peter Rylander, Diana Drury and Fred Wannamaker.

The 2023 CCAA Hall of Fame Banquet will be held at the DoubleTree Fallsview Resort & Spa by Hilton in conjunction with the CCAA's 49th Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will be held June 12-15.
