In the CCAA National Championship Bronze Medal Semi-Final, Mount
Royal second year guard Jeff Price recorded a game high 18 points,
while nailing nine of ten free throws to lead the Cougars past
Fanshawe 80-73 in front of an energetic crowd at the Nova Scotia
Agriculture College Athletic Centre on Wednesday morning.
With the loss, Fanshawe ends the 2006-07 season in fifth place in
the CCAA, while the Cougars advance to the Bronze Medal Final
tonight versus the fifth seeded Mount Saint Vincent Mystics who
defeated the John Abbott Islanders by the score of 78-62 in the
other Bronze Medal Final.
Fanshawe suffered a major blow in the opening game of the
Championship as CCAA Player of the Year Pat Sewell went down a
season ending injury, as he was unable to participate the rest of
the tournament.
Despite a valiant comeback in the fourth quarter, the Falcons could
never manage to make up for a 26-17 deficit in the second
quarter.
Leading the Falcons was fourth year veteran Dave Brown who finished
with 15 points and four assists. Also in double figures for
Fanshawe was freshman centre Pat Wright who finished with 14 points
going 6-for-11 from the field. OCAA Rookie of the Year Jabari
Copper and Adrian Pytka finished with 11 points apiece while Alex
Brkljae and Omar Sybbliss both added ten points each in the
loss.
