TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association (OCAA) basketball student-athletes of the week
for the period ending Sunday, March 4.
MALE: Manny Campbell, Mohawk
Fourth-year guard Manny Campbell (Burlington,
Ont.) was named tournament most valuable player at the recent OCAA
Men's Basketball Championship. In three tournament games, Campbell
scored 48 points and earned 15 assists while grabbing eight
rebounds and completing six steals. Campbell and his teammates
celebrated Mohawk's first OCAA men's basketball title in 40
seasons. Prior to the tourney, Campbell was named an OCAA West
region second-team all-star.
FEMALE: Sandre Bascoe, Algonquin
Third-year forward Sandre Bascoe (Ottawa) was
named tournament most valuable player at the recent OCAA Women's
Basketball Championship. Bascoe earned two double-doubles in three
games, scoring a total of 50 points while grabbing 40 rebounds.
Algonquin repeated as OCAA champions with a thrilling
double-overtime win over Seneca in the final. Bascoe is the OCAA
women's basketball player of the year, an OCAA East region
first-team all-star, and an all-Canadian.
