CATCH ANTHONY BATCHELOR ON ROGERS TV THURSDAY NIGHT

OSHAWA, Ont. - Make sure you tune into Rogers TV on Thursday night at 8 p.m. as Anthony Batchelor, the all-time leading scorer in Canadian collegiate basketball history will be appearing live on the Home Team with Roger Lajoie.

Batchelor will become the fourth player in Durham College men's basketball history to have his uniform and number permanently retired. The retirement for Batchelor's No. 32 will take place on Friday, November 23 when the Lords host the Georgian Grizzlies at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.

Batchelor will join former Lords No. 3 Ken Upshaw (1982-86), No. 40 Augusto Duquesne (1994-97) and No. 5 Bill Crowdis (1996-99) in have their jerseys retired. The presentation will take place prior to the men's basketball game at 8 p.m.

Following the jersey retirement ceremony, Batchelor will return to the Lords bench as an honourary member of the coaching staff alongside former head coach Desmond Rowley.

THE HOME TEAM WITH ROGER LAJOIE

Roger has worked as a sports writer and broadcaster for more than 30 years, much of it spent right here in Durham Region. He is an on-air talk show host on Sportsnet 590 The Fan, and is the author of "The Goal of My Life" hockey icon Paul Henderson's memoir and "The Road to Hockeytown", the story of hockey executive Jimmy Devellano.

He has broadcast more than 1,200 junior hockey games and is currently the play-by-play voice for the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League. Lajoie also does some writing for the Toronto Sun and is one of the official scorers of the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. He also teaches at the College of Sports Media, is a consultant to Ryerson University, and is the PA voice of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the Intercounty Baseball League.

Roger is best known in Durham as a long-time Oshawa Generals broadcaster and he alsoworked for the Oshawa This Week, Oshawa Times and Durham Post. Coming back to Rogers TV this fall to once again host a sports talk show (Goal Line), which allowed him to connect with Durham Region sports fans every week for five years.
