LOYALIST 85, GEORGIAN 76 (OT)

At times an OCAA season opening win seemed so close the Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team could taste it, but it was not to be falling 85-76 in overtime to the Loyalist Lancers on Friday night at the Georgian College Athletic Centre.

The game was full of excitement featuring 11 lead changes that went back and forth throughout the first four quarters, leaving few from the great crowd in attendance in their seats.

Georgian held a 36-34 lead at halftime largely thanks to a balanced attack that saw seven different Grizzlies put up points including Tevin Goodridge and Stefan Rudic who had eight points each at the break.

Justin Mitchell (13 points) and Marlon Campbell (17 points) hit some clutch threes down the stretch that helped the Grizzlies tie the game late 68. Both teams had a chance to take the lead in the dying seconds but were unable to convert.

In overtime the Lancers were able to hit some pressure three-pointers from Patrick Kalala (18 points) and Zach Marcelline (25 points) that let them pull away from the Grizzlies for the win.

Goodridge played all 45 minutes for the Grizzlies registering a team high 18 points while Jevon Francis had 17 total rebounds in just under 30 minutes of play.

The Grizzlies will return to action tomorrow afternoon at home when they host St. Lawrence–Kingston at 3 p.m.
