ST. LAWRENCE (K) 58, GEORGIAN 53

BARRIE, Ont. - The Georgian men's basketball team battled until the end but came up short against the St. Lawrence Vikings 58-53 on Saturday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.

Looking to regroup after last night's season opening night loss, the Grizzlies did themselves no favours falling behind at one point 21-4 in the first quarter. They chipped away at the Vikings lead but still managed to be down 33-18 at the half.

Grizzlies head coach Matt Coulson got the team to regroup at halftime and came out on fire with a 12-2 run to open the third quarter and battled all the way back to a slim 44-40 deficit heading to the fourth.

The Grizzlies were able to tie the game at 46-all early in the fourth but that was as close as Georgian could get.

Freshman Stefan Rudic showed for the second straight game that he is going to be a key player on this year's squad putting up 12 points just one back of Marlon Campbell who put up 13 along with a team-high six rebounds.

Vikings veteran Terence Thomas put up 12 points along with six rebounds and freshman Jonathan Visentin scored 10 to lead the way for St. Lawrence–Kingston.

The Grizzlies will head to Centennial this Wednesday, Nov. 7 for their next game and their next home action will be on Friday, Nov. 16 when they host the Algonquin Thunder at 8 p.m.
