CENTENNIAL 75, GEORGIAN 68

The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team had another "close but no cigar" game in Scarborough falling 75-68 to the Centennial Colts in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) play on Wednesday night.

It was the third game in a row the Grizzlies have been neck-and-neck with their opponents and caught some tough breaks at the end to come up short.

Georgian freshman Stefan Rudic put the team on his back early and his teammates let the hot hand roll. Rudic, a native of Germany, put up 19 first half points to help lead the Grizzlies to a 40-37 halftime lead.

Both teams battled back forth the whole night with the Grizzlies holding on to a 58-56 lead heading to the fourth and final quarter. In the dying minutes, Georgian led by four points but the Colts were able to score a clutch three-pointer to close the gap to a 68-67 lead.

From there it was all Colts who scored eight unanswered points handing the Grizzlies their third straight loss.

Rudic finished off with an impressive 26 points to lead Georgian, while Jevon Francis registered a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

The Grizzles will travel to face the Cambrian Golden Shield this Sunday at 3 p.m. before returning home next Friday, November 16 when they face the Algonquin Thunder at 8 p.m. at the Georgian College Athletic Centre.
