GEORGE BROWN 69, GEORGIAN 66

TORONTO - The Georgian Grizzlies looked to be road warriors on Wednesday night with four teams playing on the road in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) action.

In Toronto, the Grizzlies men's and women's basketball teams took on the George Brown Huskies.

The women's team put themselves in a tough spot as the Huskies came firing out of the gate opening the game with a 12-0 run and never looked back.

The Grizzlies weren't able to come up with an answer for the Huskies offence, who were able to shoot 42.8 percent on the night, leading to a 87-40 George Brown win.

Mikaela Weir led the Grizzlies in scoring with nine points in the game.

In the men's game, Georgian looked to find their own scoring touch against the Grizzlies and played a very even first half with both teams matching each other with a 27-27 score at halftime.

The Grizzlies were able to go on an 11-0 run in the third quarter to take a 13 point lead but in the fourth the Huskies were able to battle right back and were able to make some key shots late to pull away with a 69-66 victory.

Jevon Francis had a double-double with 18 points and 20 rebounds for the Grizzlies while Justin Mitchell and Alex Fields each had 12 points.

The Grizzlies men's team will host La Cite this Sunday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre. Both the men's and women's basketball teams will wrap up their first half schedules on Wednesday, Dec. 5 when they host the Seneca Sting at the Georgian Athletic Centre at 6 and 8 p.m. The Grizzlies will have a teddy bear toss that night and all fans are reminded to bring a stuffed animal with them to the game.

During halftime of the men's game all the stuffed animals will be thrown on the court. All collected bears will then be donated to the Barrie Christmas Cheer campaign.
