SENECA 77, GEORGIAN 68

BARRIE, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team wanted a win badly heading into the holiday break but came up short falling to the Seneca Sting 77-68 on Wednesday night at the Georgian College Athletic Centre.

Trying to put their early season struggles behind them the Grizzlies came out on fire opening the game with a 10-0 run. The Sting were able to quickly make adjustments and controlled the play the rest of the first quarter but still remained behind the Grizzlies 23-21.

Holding a 38-34 lead at halftime the Grizzlies continued the tight play to start the third but gave up some ground to Seneca and Georgian held only a one point lead going to the final quarter.

In what must feel like a bad reoccurring nightmare for the Grizzlies their opponents got hot at the right time late in the game and pulled away with the lead after outscoring Georgian 26-16 in the fourth quarter for the victory.

Georgian's Stefan Rudic was dominant putting up 26 points while Jevon Francis had a double-double with 13 points and 19 rebounds in the loss for the Grizzlies.

The Sting rode big performances by Calmar Morgan (21 points) and Felix Adjei (20 points) in the victory.

During halftime Grizzlies fans threw hundreds of stuffed animals onto the court during the "teddy bear toss" to benefit the Barrie and District Christmas Cheer.  The Grizzlies would like to thank all of those who participated to help benefit those in need in our community this holiday season.

The Grizzlies will now have just under a month to regroup before starting their second half beginning with the George Brown College Invitational tournament January 4-5.
