NIAGARA 94, ST. CLAIR 74

Niagara (7-5) defeated St. Clair (3-9) by a score of 94-74.

Niagara started and finished well to out-shoot St. Clair at the Thames Campus Healthplex in Chatham.

Hoisting 34 triples for the game and making good on 50 percent from the field, Niagara was able to pull away from St. Clair in the final quarter for the 20-point victory.

St. Clair used a late run in the second quarter to only trail 40-38 at the break and played even in the third quarter before allowing Niagara to score 34 points in the deciding final quarter.

Niagara had four players in double figures for the game but St. Clair did hold a 26-4 advantage in points off the bench.

St. Clair's Alex Temesy (Amherstburg) led his team with 21 points while Matt Nuna (Windsor) scored 17 points. The finest performance for St. Clair, however, was turned in by rookie forward David Younan (Leamington) who scored 12 points but added 14 rebounds for the double-double.

Niagara's Jimmy Bilenga scored a game-high 28 points to lead his team to the victory.

The Saints basketball teams go on the road for the next few weeks in OCAA action.
