HUMBER 80, FANSHAWE 70

The Fanshawe Falcons men's basketball team hosted the Humber Hawks on Wednesday night. The Hawks outscored the Falcons 34-14 in the fourth quarter enroute to an 80-70 victory. The Falcons drop to 12-3 on the season and are now third place in the West Division.

Coming off his season-high 24 points against Lambton, Chauvan Miller-Bennett had nine at the end of the first quarter, but his team trailed 18-15. Fanshawe led for a short time in the second after Boyd Vassell hit a three giving them a 29-26 lead. Humber went on a 6-1 run and led 32-30 at the half.

Early in the third the teams were tied at 36 until an 11-1 run opened up a 10-point lead for the Falcons. Strong drives to the basket led to Fanshawe putting up 26 points in the third and leading 56-46 with one quarter to play.

A technical foul on the Hawks early in the fourth led to Boyd Vassell making four straight free throws, extending the Falcons lead to 11. Dominant inside play from Humber's Tyrone Dickson propelled a 19-0 run by the Hawks, going on to win by a final score of 80-70.

Boyd Vassell was Fanshawe's leading scorer in the game with 23 points. Chauvan Miller-Bennett had his second straight 20-plus point game, putting up 21 against the Hawks. Humber's Tyrone Dickson finished with a double-double (22 points and 12 rebounds).

The Falcons travel to Oakville on February 2 for their next game against the Sheridan Bruins (12-2).
