LA CITE 74, DURHAM 52

OSHAWA, Ont. - A return home could not change the Durham College men's basketball team's fortunes on Sunday as they were defeated 74-52 by the La Cite Coyotes.

Coming off a four game road trip, the Lords saw their first home action in over two weeks. Unfortunately for Durham, the team got off to a slow start being outscored 17-5 and 21-14 in the first and second quarters to trail by 19 points at halftime.

La Cite would increase their lead 26 points in the third quarter and cruise to the double-digit win.

Daniel Gracia was the Coyotes leading scorer has he dropped 20 points and had 10 rebounds and six steals.

Leading the Lords in scoring was Leke Bankole who had 18 points in the loss. Adrian Burton had a team-high 12 rebound performance for Durham.

La Cite had the edge on perimeter shooting in the game as they outscored Durham 21-6 from beyond the arc.

The Lords are 4-13 having dropped their last four games. La Cite improves to 9-8 and sit in sixth place in the OCAA east region standings.

Durham will be back on the court on Tuesday night when they host the Fleming Knights (3-14). Tip-off at the CRWC is 8 p.m.
