FANSHAWE 71, SAULT 52

The Fanshawe Falcons men's basketball team defeated the Sault Cougars 71-52 on Sunday
afternoon. The win improves their record to 14-6 heading into the OCAA playoffs, beginning
next Saturday.

The Falcons led by as many as eight in the first, but a Cougar three-pointer in the last few seconds
closed the gap to 18-13 after the opening quarter.

In the second, both teams generated offence from points in the paint. The Falcons scored the
final four points of the half to lead 32-26.

A 10-3 run to close out the third quarter gave Fanshawe their largest lead of the game at 49-37.

Three straight three-pointers from the Cougars had them to within five points early in the fourth. The Falcons pulled away and secured their 14th victory of the season.

Boyd Vassell led the Falcons in scoring with 23 points. They top scorer for the Cougars was
Danny Macdonald with 13.

After a four game losing streak the Falcons bounced back this weekend with two much needed
victories. They have secured a top four position in the OCAA West and will host a first round
playoff game next Saturday.
