SENECA 84, GEORGE BROWN 66

NORTH YORK, Ont. – Fresh off of a disappointing and emotional loss last night, the Seneca Sting rebounded to defeat the George Brown Huskies in convincing fashion 84-66.

Seneca played with more energy from the opening tip than last night when they fell down early to the Mohawk Mountaineers. Today, Seneca opened the game with seven straight points and held an 18-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Huskies did not score their fifth and sixth points until the quarter was more than nine minutes old and they had already went scoreless for five minutes. Calmar Morgan scored eight of Seneca's first 10 points and scored 10 in the quarter.

The Huskies went through another dry spell, not scoring their first basket until the two and a half minute mark as they trailed 20-8. The Sting continued to build on their momentum, leading 33-16. An example of Seneca's desire to play one more game this season came when Kevin Cornwall, known for his dunks and ferocious facial expression that follows, took a charge at one end and then completed an alley-oop pass from Vadim Halimov for a 35-18 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, the Huskies finally found their shooting touch after making just over 20 percent in the first half. The Huskies cut the lead to 39-31 after a three-pointer by Frankie Gyamfi, but a three point play by Felix Adjei once again shifted the momentum. Seneca would go on to extend their 53-35 lead to 61-37 at the end of the third quarter. Adjei had 11 points in the quarter.

With the game already out of reach, Seneca extended their lead to 29 with a 75-46 lead. The Huskies were able to make some baskets late once the Seneca reserves came in to close the score to 18. Nine Huskies scored in the fourth quarter while Morgan put together another All-Star-like quarter with 11 points including shooting 4-of-4 from the free throw line.

Morgan finished the game with 26 points and five rebounds, shooting a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. Jamal Boyce and Adjei each had 15 points as Adjei returned from an injury sustained last night. Boyce was named Player of the Game for Seneca.

Gyamfi led the Huskies with 12 points and seven rebounds. Dwayne Harrison had 10 points and eight rebounds while Salissou Abdoulkader had four steals. The Huskies Player of the Game was Harrison.

The Sting will play for bronze against the Algonquin Thunder later today at 4 p.m. while George Brown's season comes to an end.
