SENECA 97, DURHAM 67

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men's basketball team lost their OCAA season opener dropping a 97-67 decision to the defending east region champion Seneca Sting on Tuesday night.

Seneca would capitalize on 39 Durham turnovers, which included five straight to open up the second half.

Durham could not find a way to stop 2012-13 CCAA all-Canadian Felix Adjei who led all players with 30 points which included three monstrous slam dunks. The Toronto native also added six assists and five steals to his totals.

Seneca only held a four-point lead after one quarter, but managed to pull away over the next 10 minutes holding Durham to just seven points and taking a commanding 49-32 half-time lead. The Sting would carry that momentum into the second half, as they opened up a 71-36 lead and rolled to the 30-point victory.

Saliym Cadogan was Durham's leading scorer with 18 points, 13 of which were in the second half. Curtis Johnson chipped in with 13 points while tip-off tournament all-star Ajahmo Clarke collected 11 points and eight rebounds.

Eric Smith did not play as he sat out with a shoulder injury.

Seneca won all of the battles in the game as they had a 48-38 advantage on the boards and had 26 steals including seven by Clamar Morgan.

Durham will have a week to regroup as they travel to Kingston next Wednesday night for a match against St. Lawrence. The Lords next home game is on Friday, Nov. 1 against the Algonquin Thunder. Game time at the CRWC is 8 p.m.
