ST. LAWRENCE (K) 83, LA CITE 68

KINGSTON, Ont. - The St. Lawrence College men's basketball team balanced their record to 2-2 after defeating the La Cité Collégiale Coyotes 83-68 on Sunday, Nov. 3.

The Vikings started the game with an 11-point run, and held their lead right through the first quarter, keeping the Coyotes to just 12 points.

In the second quarter, the Coyotes got the ball to Marc Anotoine Belanger, who would shoot 6-of-10, including six three-pointers, to finish the half with 19 points. The Vikings were able to maintain their strength offensively, but fell behind on defence by allowing La Cité to score 30 points in the second quarter, to tie the game at 42 into halftime.

SLC would settle down in the third and fourth quarter, holding the Coyotes to only 26 points.

"We've been telling the players that we want to hold our opponents to only 20 points in each quarter," said Vikings head coach Barry Smith.

"We got away from that in the first half, but we made some adjustments at halftime to shutdown their shooters and the guys held La Cité to 15 and 11 points in the third and fourth quarter. It was a real solid effort by the guys today."

The Vikings success on defence, combined with the continued success on offence, led to the 83-68 victory. Andrew Dawkins finished with 17 points and four assists. Chris Offspring brought down 11 total rebounds, while recording 14 points.

The team's next game takes place in Peterborough, Ont., on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Fleming College. The Knights are off to a 0-3 start.
