DURHAM 92, LA CITE 71

OTTAWA - The Durham College men's basketball team earned an important victory in Ottawa this weekend as they defeated the La Cite Coyotes 92-71.

Durham (6-8) is now in a three-way tie for the final playoff position in the OCAA East region with the Coyotes (6-7) and Loyalist Lancers (6-7). Having won five of their last seven games, Durham is one of the hottest teams in the conference and will look to secure a playoff spot with six games remaining in the regular season.

Ajahmo Clarke (Ajax, Ont.), who entered the game second in OCAA league scoring, had another outstanding outing with 28 points, four rebounds and four assists. In his first season with the Lords, he has scored at least 20 points in 11 of 14 games.

Durham forward Eric Smith (Ajax, Ont.) was two rebounds shy of a double-double as he drained 20 points and grabbed eight boards.

La Cite's leading scorer Saidou Cisse had similar numbers to Smith with 22 points and eight rebounds. This was only Cisse's second game this season as he recorded 17 points against Canadore in his debut earlier in the month.

Durham will wrap up their three game road-trip on Wednesday night when they head to Scarborough to take on the Centennial Colts (7-6). The Colts have been streaky this season and have lost three of their last four games.

Wednesday's game will also be a rematch of the David Stewart Tip-Off Tournament finals in which Centennial won 83-73.
