GEORGIAN 94, LA CITE 82

BARRIE, Ont. - Following a near victory over the country's second ranked team, the Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team needed to refocus for an important game against the La Cité Coyotes on Sunday afternoon.

The Grizzlies got off to a bit of a slow start in the opening quarter and found themselves behind early trailing 27-21 after one.

The turning point for the Grizzlies came at the start of the second half. Georgian went on one of its strongest scoring outbursts of the season scoring 38 points in the third quarter alone which gave the Grizzlies their biggest lead of the contest 71-55.

From there the Grizzlies controlled play and cruised to a 94-82 victory, their eighth of the season to keep pace with the Centennial Colts who sit just half a game ahead of Georgian for third place in the OCAA East Division standings. The two will meet in a key battle this coming Friday, Jan. 31 at the Georgian College Athletic Centre.

The Grizzlies had big efforts from a trio of players - Teq Zwarych (Whitby) who had 27 points, Mark Brown (Toronto) with 23 points and Jordy Kabuya (Ottawa) who had 17 points, which were all season highs.

Rookie Marc-Antoine Belanger (Gatineau) scored a team-high 17 points in the losing effort for the Coyotes.
