NIAGARA 76, ST. CLAIR 73

WELLAND, Ont. - The St. Clair men's basketball team was on the wrong side of 76-73 decision with Niagara College in Welland, Ont., on Sunday.

The teams played back and forth for most of the contest until Niagara took a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter.

The Saints mounted a furious late game comeback with a 17-2 run and actually took the lead in the final minute at 73-72 on a Matt Nuna (Windsor, Ont./Catholic Central) lay-up. Niagara answered with a post-up bucket, however, and was able to survive with a few free-throws even though the teams traded turnovers in the game's final seconds.

Alex Temesy (Amherstburg, Ont./General Amherst) led the Saints with 17 points including a pair of triples in the fourth quarter comeback adding six rebounds and three steals. Stephan Gray (Milton, Ont./Bishop Reding) had 11 points while to go with four rebounds while Jamaal Thompson (London, Ont./Holy Names-Windsor) chipped in with 10 points and four rebounds.

Niagara's Aiden Alize-Minty led his team to victory with a game-high 20 points.

The St. Clair men's basketball team continues their OCAA West region schedule Saturday when they travel to Lambton College (Sarnia, Ont.).
