FANSHAWE 83, SAULT 67

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - The Fanshawe men's basketball team won both road games versus the Sault Cougars (4-12) last weekend and now sit alone in fourth place of the OCAA West Division standings.

On Saturday night, the Falcons jumped out to a 26-8 lead in the first quarter over the Cougars and never looked back. At one point, Fanshawe led by as many as 28 points and cruised to the 83-67 victory. Fanshawe's Chavaun Miller-Bennett had a great offensive game with 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting.

On Sunday afternoon, the Cougars stepped up their defence and led the Falcons by three at the half. Fanshawe's Bryan McDonald came through in the second half, finishing the game with a team-high 20 points and 13 rebounds. The Falcons held the Sault to just five points in the third quarter and came back to win the game by a final score of 59-51.

Fanshawe hosts the OCAA No. 1-ranked Sheridan Bruins (14-2) this Thursday at 8 p.m. The Bruins are ranked third in all of Canada and are led by Trevor Williams, who averages 16.8 points per game.
