DURHAM 90, FLEMING 66

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Starting off the season with a 1-6 record, the Durham College men's basketball team looked to be down and out. However, the Lords never showed any signs of giving up as they finished the remainder of the year at 9-4 to move into a playoff spot in the highly competitive OCAA East region.

With Durham's 90-66 victory over Fleming in their regular season finale, the Lords moved into a six-way tie for third place in the regional standings. With Durham, Seneca, Centennial, Georgian, Loyalist and St. Lawrence all having matching 10-10 records, OCAA tie-breaking procedures ended up putting the Lords in fifth place, just behind the Sting and Colts.

Durham will now head on the road for the OCAA qualifying round with their opponent still to be determined. It will be winner-take-all in the qualifying game with a trip to the OCAA championship hosted by Sheridan (Brampton, Ont.) on the line.

Eric Smith (Ajax, Ont.) had a big night for the Lords as he drained 32 points against the Knights. This was Smith's most productive game of the season on the offensive end of the court.

Leading the way for Fleming was Kevin Wilson who finished the night with 18 points.
