ST. LAWRENCE (K) 83, LA CITE 74

OTTAWA - After suffering a convincing loss to the Algonquin Thunder the previous night, the St. Lawrence College (SLC) men's basketball team came into their game against the La Cité Collégiale Coyotes refocused and determined to earn an important two points.

"Our victory was a combination of being far more aggressive in attacking the basket, with some big three-point shots down the stretch," said Vikings assistant coach Kevin Smart.

The Vikings aggressive offence played a huge role in the 83-74 victory, as SLC would reach the foul line on several occasions, finishing the game going 22-of-28 (79 per cent) from the line.

Andrew Dawkins would hit a pair of clutch three-point towards the end of the game to finish the game with 22 points, leading the Vikings.

With the two points, SLC moves into a four-way tie with Seneca, Loyalist and Durham College for fifth place in the Ontario Colleges Athletics Association. With only four regular season games remaining, the Vikings will need to defeat Durham and Fleming College to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Vikings will host the Fleming Knights on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 8 p.m., and then the Georgian Grizzlies on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m., for their final home game of the year.
