MOHAWK WINS QUARTER-FINAL IN OCAA BASKETBALL

OSHAWA, Ont. - Led by its player of the game Matt Fennell and his 35 points, Mohawk downed Seneca 102-81 in quarter-final play at the 2015 belairdirect Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Men's Basketball Championship in Oshawa, Ont., on Friday.

Fennell, a two-time all-Canadian and OCAA west division first-team all-star guard was a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line and had 11 rebounds. Matt Savel had 21 points and four assists for the Mountaineers. West second-team all-star Andrew Cicuttini added 16 points.

Mohawk outscored the Sting 31-18 in the first quarter and were well on its way.

The Mountaineers will face St. Lawrence-Kingston in semifinal play Saturday at 8 p.m. The Vikings topped host Durham Lords 69-65.

In other quarter-final play, Humber needed overtime to beat Lambton 83-82 and Fanshawe downed Georgian 76-73.
