HUMBER ONE WIN AWAY FROM NATIONAL MEN'S BASKETBALL TITLE

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Humber Hawks will vie for the gold medal at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball National Championship. The Hawks knocked off the top-ranked team in the country and previously unbeaten Holland Hurricanes of P.E.I., 81-70 in Hamilton, Ont., on Friday.

The Hawks were in control most of the way. They led 18-13 after the first quarter, 42-24 at intermission and 61-49 after three quarters.

Chad Bewley paced Humber with 23 points and six rebounds and was his team's player of the game. Ancil Martin scored 14 points.

Holland's player of the game, Eamon Morrissy, was the top scorer in the game with 24 points. Orlando Palmer added 17.

Humber will shoot for the CCAA title Saturday at 8:30 p.m. The Hawks will meet the winner of the semifinal between the Vancouver Island University Mariners and the host Mohawk Mountaineers, which tips off Friday at 8:30 p.m. at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre.
 
Holland College will meet Lethbridge in a bronze medal semifinal Saturday at 10 a.m.
