GEORGIAN 81, CENTENNIAL 71

BARRIE, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team started off with a bang in their first home game of the 2014-15 OCAA season against the Centennial Colts on Wednesday night.

A loud charged up crowd at the Georgian Athletic Centre brought the energy to start and the Grizzlies players took it from there.

After a tight first half, Grizzlies rookie guard Kenrick Lewis (Toronto) provided some great energy off the bench on way to his nine-point effort which helped Georgian get up by as much as a 20-point lead.

From there the Grizzlies put the game on cruise control taking an 81-71 win from the Colts which improves their record to 3-1 on the season.

Tequilan Zwarych (Whitby, Ont.) had a team-high 20 points and 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.

Jon Edwards continues to impress this season. The second-year guard from Mississauga, Ont., scored a career-high 18 points on Wednesday.

The Grizzlies women's team had a tough time against the Colts and were handed a 71-35 defeat.

Georgian had a tough time finding ways to score shooting under 30 per cent for the game in their third straight loss.

Katie Wiggins (Belleville, Ont.) had a team-high 12 points in the game for the Grizzlies.

Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action when they host the George Brown Huskies on Saturday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
