HUMBER 61, ST. CLAIR 58

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair men's basketball team gave No. 2 nationally ranked Humber College all they could handle but fell 61-58 Saturday night at the SportsPlex and dropped their record to 1-3 in the OCAA's West Region.

Humber, who is the top ranked team in the province, remained undefeated at 5-0 but had a significant scare in this contest coming from behind at halftime (31-26) and were also down late in the fourth quarter.

A terrible shooting night for both teams and a rash of turnovers on either side let the game boil down to a few possessions. The Saints started very slow and trailed 14-4 after the first quarter but used a 23-2 run to storm into the break with five-point lead thanks to some good outside shooting.

Humber controlled the boards (52-27) all game entered the final frame with a seemingly comfortable lead but St. Clair scraped to a 56-55 lead with a few minutes to play. Humber was able to get some timely buckets on St. Clair turnovers to finish off the win even though the Saints had a few possessions late with a chance to force overtime.
 
Rookie guard Nick Campbell (Brampton, Ont.) led the Saints scoring 13 points. Charles Baskin (Detroit, Mich.) scored 11 point adding three assists while Alex Temesy (Amherstburg, Ont./General Amherst) chipped in with 10 points to go with five rebounds, three assists and a whopping seven steals.   
 
Humber's Tryone Dickson (Scarborough, Ont.) had 13 points adding 16 rebounds in the victory.
