BRAMPTON, Ont. - Both of Mohawk's basketball teams may have dropped their opening game of the season, but both have since reeled off three straight wins - the latest at Sheridan on Tuesday night. At the same time, both teams ended two game win streaks by the hometown Bruins, leaving them with records of 3-2.

The Mountaineer men got 17 points and a whopping 28 rebounds from Andrew Cicuttini in their 116-103 romp. Matt Fennell scored 36 and added nine rebounds. Matt Savel picked up 17 points and 11 assists. O.J. Watson had 17 points and six boards and Taylor Dowhaniuk scored 10 points and added 12 rebounds.

Meantime, the women beat Sheridan 68-48, as Jen Jen Abella had 14 points, six rebounds and four assists. Porscha Hewitt and Stef Hrymak both collected 11 points, while Careena Browne had 11 points and nine rebounds.

The Mountaineers front court pressure forced 41 turnovers.

Mohawk returns home Friday (Nov. 14) to face Lambton. The women hit the floor at 6 p.m. and the men play at 8 p.m., at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre.
