MOHAWK 108, NIAGARA 84

HAMILTON, Ont. - Make it seven wins in a row for both Mohawk basketball teams.

The women's squad tipped things off at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre on Thursday, with a tight 68-63 decision over the Niagara Knights. Stef Hrymak led the Mountaineers with 20 points. Careena Browne scored 11 points and had eight rebounds while Jakayla Douse contributed 10 points and nine boards.

For Niagara, Courtney McPherson and Anna Jaworowicz had 11 points each and Mary Ingribelli had 10 rebounds.

Mohawk upped its record to 7-1 and Niagara dropped to 4-4.

The Mohawk men scored a 108-84 win over Niagara, as Matt Fennell scored 28 points while fellow guard Patrick Iavarone had 24 and Andrew Cicuttini had 15 points and 17 rebounds for the 7-1 Mountaineers.

Trevon Ash led the Knights with 26 points and Delroy Grandison added 10 points and seven rebounds, but they couldn't prevent Niagara's record falling to 3-5.
