DURHAM 93, SENECA 62

OSHAWA, Ont. - Friday night both staff and members of the Durham College men's basketball team were excited to have Eric Smith (Ajax, Ont.) back in the line-up, especially after they saw he wasn't too rusty.

Having not played all season due to surgery on his shoulder, Smith made his 2014-15 season debut in a big way, leading the Lords to a 93-62 victory over Seneca College with 24 points.

Smith also chipped in with seven assists.

The team's leading scorer with 25 PPG, Ajahmo Clarke (Ajax, Ont.), scored 15 of his own, while Darian Rowe (Maple, Ont.) picked up 16.

Dylan Pelissero (Oshawa, Ont.) led the team in blocks with 13, while scoring six points.

After the first quarter the two teams were tied 19-19, but at halftime the Lords led 48-30.

Durham outscored Seneca 20-16 and 25-16 in the final two quarters to pick up a convincing win.

Joshua Yorke-Frazer led Seneca with 18 points, while team captain and leading scorer Felix Adjei added 14.

This weekend Durham is off, with their next game on Jan. 14 at Fleming. They return home Jan. 20 to host George Brown.

The Lords are now in first place in the OCAA east region, but a win by Georgian on Sunday against Loyalist would put the teams in a two-way tie. They meet for the second time this season on Jan. 30 at Georgian.
