GEORGIAN 70, GEORGE BROWN 57

BARRIE, Ont. - It was a perfect afternoon for the Georgian Grizzlies basketball teams when they hosted the George Brown Huskies on Saturday at the Georgian Athletic Centre.

The Grizzlies men's team came out on fire to start the game jumping out to a 21-9 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back, defeating the Huskies 70-57.

Georgian sophomore Tequilan Zwarych (Whitby, Ont.) continues to prove he is one of the elite power forwards in the OCAA with yet another double-double effort, scoring a team-high 22 points and 16 rebounds.

Veteran forward Ivan Ivic (Barrie, Ont.) also had his first double-double of the season 15 points and 10 rebounds.

With a win this past Wednesday against Centennial, the Grizzlies knocked off two of the three teams who were undefeated to this point in the east division standings. The Grizzlies now hold a 4-1 record and sit in second place in the east division standings just behind the Durham Lords who are currently 5-0. Georgian will travel to face Durham on Nov. 21.

The Grizzlies women's team also had a great game as they earned their first win of the season with a 67-58 win over the Huskies.

Georgian's offence was clicking early and the team continued to roll as rookie and Barrie, Ont., native Kelsey Dunkeld had a team-high 18 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double in the OCAA.

Fellow rookie Hannah Pearsall (Guelph, Ont.) also had a career-high with 17 points while being perfect from the free throw line.

The Grizzlies will look to keep the win streak alive when they host the Algonquin Thunder next Saturday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre. It will be a good challenge for the Grizzlies as the Thunder are the four time defending OCAA champions on the women's side and last year's silver medalists on the men's side.
