LA CITE 89, GEORGIAN 88

BARRIE, Ont. - Looking to keep their perfect home record intact the Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team hosted the La Cité Coyotes on Sunday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre.

Feeling the tolls of a double overtime game less than 24 hours before, the Grizzlies had a tough time finding their game through the first three quarters.

In the fourth the Grizzlies were able to get enough energy to pull ahead of the Coyotes and have a lead in the last minute of the game, but it wouldn't last.

For the second time in two games the Grizzlies coughed up a late fourth quarter lead but this time it was even more costly.

Sending the Coyotes to the free throw line with just over two seconds left and down by just two points another potential overtime game loomed.

After the Coyotes hit the first shot, it all came down to one free throw. As the second shot rimmed out the Coyotes were able to grab the rebound and throw up a prayer as time expired.

The shot hit, making the final 89-88 for the Coyotes. A stunned Grizzlies team and fans were sent home in disbelief as Georgian had their five game win streak snapped.

Tequilan Zwarych (Whitby, Ont.) had a career high 37 points and 18 rebounds for the Grizzlies while Glody Madymba (Mississauga, Ont.) also had a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Marc Antoine Belanger (Gatineau, Que.) had a team-high 21 points for the Coyotes.

The Grizzlies will have to regroup as they travel to face the undefeated Durham Lords next Friday night in Oshawa, Ont.
