MOHAWK RUSTY BUT WIN MEN'S CAGE TOURNEY OPENER

TORONTO - The Mohawk men's basketball team won it's opening game in the George Brown invitational tournament in Toronto on Saturday, 99-96 over the Canadore Panthers of North Bay, Ont.

Mountaineers head coach Brian Jonker described the first game back after the holiday break, as  "sloppy".

Jeff Hunt led Mohawk with 11 points and 17 rebounds. Lamar Barr had 20 points, Kareem Collins scored 15 and added five rebounds, Patrick Iavarone had 15 points and four boards and Ryan Doornick hooped 13 points and added four rebounds.

Mohawk's next action will be Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. against the winner of the St. Clair-Georgian conest. La Cité, Durham, Sault College and host George Brown are the other teams in the tourney.
