OCAA ANNOUNCES 2015-16 BASKETBALL LEAGUE SCHEDULES

OCAA ANNOUNCES 2015-16 BASKETBALL LEAGUE SCHEDULES

TORONTO - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) men's and women's basketball league schedules will begin on October 20, culminating with the provincial championships being held in early March.

In between, a total of 346 regular season games will be played, beginning with a doubleheader at Loyalist College with George Brown College providing the opposition.

Defending OCAA men's champion Mohawk College begin its title defence on the road, with back-to-back games at Sault College beginning October 23. Mohawk returns home on Hallowe'en day to take on St. Clair College.

Men's national champion and OCAA women's champion Humber College are also on the road to begin the season with visits to Lambton College and St. Clair on October 24 and 25. Humber's first home games come the following weekend with back-to-back doubleheaders against Sault.

Rematches of both 2015 OCAA gold medal basketball games will take place November 13 at Mohawk, with a return engagement set for Humber on January 13.

The OCAA women's bronze medal rematch between St. Lawrence College and Algonquin College takes place November 6 in Ottawa. Both teams finished 1-2 in the east standings last season before Algonquin claimed bronze for its fifth straight OCAA medal.

Also of note, the OCAA men's bronze medal rematch between Durham College and St. Lawrence is set for December 2 in Kingston, Ont. These teams have a budding rivalry, meeting two times during the 2014-15 regular season and twice more in the post-season, with the series being split 2-2. Durham won the all-important final meeting, however, clinching bronze.

The OCAA basketball championships will take place in early February, with Niagara College hosting the women's tournament March 3-5 in Welland, Ont., and Humber hosting the men March 4-6 in Etobicoke, Ont. St. Clair hosts women's nationals March 16-19, and will earn an automatic bid to the tournament.

OCAA soccer, rugby, baseball, softball and volleyball schedules were released earlier this week.

OCAA schedule dates, times and locations are subject to change.
