LA CITE 71, DURHAM 70

OTTAWA, Ont. - The Durham College men's basketball team's fate has been sealed.

After suffering a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Algonquin Thunder on Saturday night the Lords suffered an equally upsetting loss, 71-70 to the La Cité Coyotes on Sunday afternoon in Ottawa.

With Sunday's loss Durham remains four points back of the Seneca Sting, who have a game in hand, for the final playoff spot in the OCAA east division. Durham only has two games remaining, Friday against St. Lawrence and Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Loyalist.

Unfortunately for the Lords, Seneca holds the tiebreaker if the Sting were to lose their three remaining games and the Lords were to win their final two.

Dylan Pelissero (Ridgeway, Ont.) led Durham with 21 points and six rebounds, while Aaron Hayles (Pickering, Ont.) and Darian Rowe (Maple, Ont.) had 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Rashaun Bennett (Scarborough, Ont.) had a game-high 10 rebounds for Durham.

Hess Mayele was dominant for the Coyotes, posting 28 points and six boards. Paul Lafleur added 16 points and seven rebounds in La Cité's victory.

The Lords return home this Friday to host the St. Lawrence Vikings at 8 p.m.
